How much does ERP implementation cost in Indonesia?
The first question is almost always: "how much?" The honest answer — there's no single number. ERP cost is driven by scope, not a price list. But that doesn't mean you can't estimate it.
What drives the cost
Four things account for nearly all of a project's cost:
- Number of modules. A company that only needs finance and inventory is very different from one that needs production, HR, and payroll at once.
- Level of customization. The more unique your process and the less it fits standard flows, the greater the effort.
- Volume and state of legacy data. Clean data migrates easily. Data scattered across dozens of spreadsheets in different formats needs cleaning — and that's work in itself.
- Number of users. Both for licensing (for licensed ERP) and for training.
Realistic ranges
As a general guide for the Indonesian market:
- SMEs with basic needs (finance + inventory + sales) sit at the lightest end, especially with open-source ERP like Odoo Community.
- Mid-sized firms with production need more modules, integration, and support — so cost rises with complexity.
An exact figure only comes after discovery, when scope is clear. Be wary of any vendor that quotes a final number before understanding your process — that's a guess, not an estimate.
Costs people miss
Beyond the initial implementation, budget also for:
- Data migration and cleaning — often underestimated.
- User training — a system used incorrectly is the same as no system.
- Support and maintenance after go-live — usually an annual contract with an SLA.
Cutting cost without cutting results
Start with the most painful module first, then grow gradually on the same foundation. You don't need to implement everything at once — a phased approach spreads cost and lowers risk.
